LAKOTA  STONE NATION

Harmony     Balance      Abundance     Peace
  Support         Create          Grow       Live

Mission Statement:

Joining the hearts, hands, wisdom and resources of those who respect the gift of life and value Mother Earth we gather the abundance of Inyan Oyate (Stone Nation) and walk this back to support, honor and assist her indigenous caretakers with the preservation work given them by Creator, in 8ne-ness.

HOW DO WE "WALK" THE STONES?

We are made of the "stuff" of stones, of "star stuff", therefore HOW we live our lives, speak, think, behave, and act (walk) is the best way  of "honorably walking" the stones to where and however they wish to "go", best done, of course, with sacred intent for the endless good of all creation.

How?  Well the tongue in our shoes "speaks", just as the beauty of stones who do not walk "speak" - yet they speak louder in a vibrant, intimate and silent way, and often more truthful than words.  In the life of a stone thinking (being) replaces killing.  In the same way, Who we are, how we walk also speaks louder than words, but here are a few words for thought, reflection, practice...

Code of Ethics

Balance

Influence counteracting the effect of another, equilibrium, proportion, reciprocity, to make a return for something done or given

Harmony

Concordant, in agreement, pleasing arrangement of parts, consonance, calm, combination of tones into chords.

Abundance

Copious, plentiful, amply sufficient

 Peace

Freedom from disturbance, thought or emotions
State of calm and quiet, security, concord, agreement

The Meaning of 8

Vortex, Creation, Change and Stability, Mother Earth, Circle of Life, Continuity from one generation to another, the Sacred Hoop,
Flowering Tree, Medicine Wheel, Circle of Life,
One-ness.

Where there is the practice of
Balance, Harmony, Abundance, Peace
within the circle/vortex of ones' way of being and circle of influence (8) this wholeness, completion of thought, sacred, responsible change results in a one-ness that consists of good health that honors life because all parts combine and cooperate for the good of the whole.

When each member contained in the circle balances these four qualities of Balance, Harmony, Abundance, Peace
in their life walk in body, mind, soul and spirit, soundness of body, mind, soul and spirit doubles back (4x4=8) upon itself to result in even greater Balance, Harmony, Abundance, Peace
that touches all corners of creation, for this is what results when minds are sane and bodies are cared for - and the circle of life and all relationships are naturally blessed, and all nations LIVE!

Thus - as a two-leggeds, as human BE-ings let us Respond rather than react
Don't believe everything you think - listen to the heart.
Release Attachment
Reciprocate, Share, Assist, Nurture life and life honoring ways.
Live Morally, Wisely, Mindfully, Harmoniously, in Balance, Abundantly, Peacefully,
in Respect and Gratitude for the great Circle
(continuity represented by the number 8) of life and the Freedom, Beauty and Sacredness of all our relations

Please visit again to see THIS PAGE transform into new ways of honoring the sacred and diverse gifts of life and life-ways of 8neness practiced by those who choose to walk in a sacred manner in harmony with Mitakuye Oyasin - all our relations.

As this web site grows, we envision a page dedicated to enlarge on each of the above principles, listing those individuals and the web sites of those "St8newalkers" who define, believe in, support and walk in these life honoring ways as living examples and those who have "walked back" the abundant gifts of Stone Nation to support this web site and these ancient and wise principles.

By returning a portion of the abundance of stones (gold, silver,  precious gems, lumber, minerals and oil torn from the Treaty Lands and shipped to bless bank accounts and financial institutions around the globe) St8newalkers show their support in practical ways towards the traditional people of this land (legal treaty holders) who still struggle to keep their culture, language, and traditional life ways alive .

Thoughts about those who signed "protection of Ceremonies" who "claim" to represent all Lakota, Dakota, Nakota:

...[these ones], have themselves forgotten many important teachings that are in need of being remembered. What is seen and being promoted as traditional is itself incomplete and requires balance. For example, the showing of the sacred pipe at ceremonial gatherings, which has always been a powerful spiritual tool for keeping the people united, one, in Spirit is not being followed and, consequently, public acknowledgement, identity and belief – the authority of the pipe among people – is degraded. And the leadership of the tribes is now mostly male (all the signatories of the proclamation are male). If there were a true coming together of the original seven fires, or councils, then they would be made up of each nation picking senior pipe carriers, a man and woman from each, as was traditionally done, to make a decision such as this. Then, there would be unanimity in its belief and, consequently, great respect for the decision by all.

This balance of male and female is sorely lacking in tribal culture today, among all tribes, again the result of federal government removal of traditional ways, not Native at all. It should be remembered that tribes were matrilineal and tribal groups, moieties, bands, families, were of shared governance. And if there were such balance, of male and female leaders, pipe carriers all, given equal respect and honored, it’s doubtful such a divisive policy as this "Protection" would be pursued, or would even have been entertained.

Women have always been caretakers of the children and the elderly and looked after the overall interests of the people; without that viewpoint, men are left to do what they do best: execution of action, in this case, without balance or considered judgment for the benefit of all. In the decision of the moment, who looks after the seven generations to follow? It was a woman, the Buffalo Calf Woman, after all, who gave the pipe to those who would circumscribe its use, and she said she would return. Now is the time of allowing, receiving, nurturing the Divine Feminine in all we do, keeping the Sky Paths of the Holy Ones Open. The need for hierarchy, domination and control over others is over; it is our duty to be recognizing, valuing and celebrating differences rather than trying to eliminate or control them. This is the way of balance, especially in these times, remembering the lessons of conscious, equal partnership to achieve balance and right relations.

This is the true face of who we are." More on this subject...click here...

Thoughts on the "Protection of Ceremonies" by "some" Lakota, Dakota, Nakota "elders":

"If those who signed the proclamation wish to abide by their own edict, it seems a divisive act that will destroy them and all who follow it; and is not one to be followed. But it is their choice, and to be honored in its own way whatever one may think of it. We can lament their path, but not follow it. We peacefully accept their right to self-destruction.

That is the way of peace: With compassion, allow, accept, acknowledge and be grateful that this path is being followed by some so that all may clearly see what they cannot afford to lose. We see what we must protect by seeing those who are so willing to give it away under the delusion of holding it. They provide a mirror for truth and our preservation.".
